March 27–28, 2025 | Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago
Organized by Pan American Health Organization (PAHO)
The International Federation of Health Information Management Associations (IFHIMA) was specially invited to participate in the high-level interagency workshop convened by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) to support the digital transformation of Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) systems in the English-speaking Caribbean. IFHIMA was honored to be represented at this important regional initiative.

IFHIMA was represented by the following regional leaders:
• Deneice Marshall, IFHIMA President-Elect (Barbados)
• Margaret Biscette, IFHIMA National Director for St. Lucia
• Veronica Miller Richards, IFHIMA National Director for Jamaica

The workshop brought together key stakeholders, including international agencies, national governments, and technical experts, to develop a subregional roadmap aimed at accelerating CRVS modernization through digital innovation. This effort aligns with the broader goals of improving health information systems and promoting the successful adoption of ICD-11 across the region.
IFHIMA welcomed the opportunity to collaborate and contribute to this critical dialogue, reinforcing its commitment to strengthening health information management practices and health information systems globally and regionally. The Federation looks forward to continued collaboration with PAHO and participating countries as they work to implement sustainable, interoperable, and data-driven CRVS solutions.
This workshop represents a significant milestone in regional cooperation and knowledge sharing and reflects a collective determination to build resilient digital infrastructures that will enhance the availability, quality, and use of vital statistics in the Caribbean.
Further to the work completed to date, the IFHIMA team including Deneice Marshall, Margaret Biscette and Veronica Miller Richards have participated in a series of online meetings to finalize the Roadmap for the Digital Transformation of CRVS Systems in the Caribbean Region.
