As anyone who has ever been to Australia will tell you, it’s a great place to visit. It’s beautiful; it’s fun; it’s one of the most unique places on earth.
Australia is a continent and a country in the South Pacific Ocean. It’s a land mass separate from other continents, making its flora and fauna unique from other parts of the world. It’s full of exotic creatures – koalas, wallabies, kangaroos, cassowaries (very big flightless birds akin to dinosaurs) and way more. If you come to Brisbane, you can take a day trip to Australia Zoo for an incomparable wildlife adventure. The scenery in Queensland (a state on the NE tip of AU) is spectacular including the Great Barrier Reef, the Sunshine Coast, and the Gold Coast Hinterlands where you can take a glow worms tour.
Of course, if you are making your way to Australia, you’ll want to go to Sydney, where you can see the iconic Sydney Opera House and Harbor Bridge. Take a ferry from Circular Quay for breathtaking views on your way to Bondi or Manley Beach and other seaside neighborhoods. Charming!
The food and wine of Australia is fabulous. Even the coffee is great. I can’t tell you why, it just is. If you are a seafood fan you will want to try the Morton Bay Bugs, a cross between a lobster and shrimp. If you do make your way to Sydney, the Rocks restaurant has scrumptious seafood. Did I mention the wine? You can’t beat Shiraz from Barossa or McLaren Vale, dry Rieslings from Clare and Eden Valleys, and Sauvignon Blanc from Adelaide Hills.
The people of Australia are very friendly and helpful. They have a great sense of humor and love a good party. If you are coming to Brisbane for the IFHIMA/HIMAA Congress, you don’t want to miss the welcome reception on Monday evening 30th October.
