IFHIMA Communities of Practice (CoPs)

IFHIMA CoPs provide opportunities for members around the world to exchange knowledge and experiences, discuss emerging issues, collaborate on areas of common interest, and contribute to the advancement of Health Information Management. IFHIMA currently facilitates COPs across the following focus areas, reflecting the evolving needs of the profession.

Digital Health

Focus: The Digital Health Community of Practice (CoP) provides a global forum for health information professionals interested in digital health to share knowledge, collaborate, and learn from one another. The CoP promotes the contributions and expertise of the health information management profession in digital health and provides opportunities for members to explore emerging developments, share best practices, discuss challenges, and collaborate on digital health-related topics through presentations, knowledge sharing sessions, and member-led initiatives.

Education

Focus: The Education CoP provides a forum for discussion of common-interest subjects related to HI/HIM education, facilitates information and idea sharing among members, and promotes best practices in HIM education. Benefits of participation include the opportunity to network with peers from around the Globe and identification of shared HIM education issues and challenges.

ICD-11

Focus: The ICD-11 Community of Practice (CoP) provides a forum enabling the discussion of common interests, information sharing, and promotion of best practices related to the ICD-11. This forum is focused on the needs of Health Information Management professionals and practitioners globally.
COP Features:

  • Presentations by members on their progress towards ICD-11 adoption.
  • IFHIMA updates
  • Sharing of insights on the current state of ICD-11 adoption and implementation, including challenges.
  • Invited speakers presenting the status of ICD-11 adoption implementation in different countries
  • Opportunities for discussion and Q& A among members

Research

Focus: The Research CoP collaborates on research addressing issues relevant to the health information management professionals worldwide. The initial focus of the research COP is the development and distribution of an artificial/augmented intelligence literacy assessment for HIM professionals and students.
