SEDOM (Sociedad Española de Documentación Médica), the Spanish Health Information Management (HIM) Association member of IFHIMA, has celebrated its annual meeting in the beautiful city of Toledo during the past 13th to 15th of June. Over 200 delegates from all over Spain took part in the Congress.

The sessions included invited speakers and around 100 communications with vibrant debates covering topics such as: Expectations of HIM internal clients: physicians, investigators and hospital directors; Patient safety perspective in HIM and Technology to improve quality in HIM department results. The final sesión analyzed the impact of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which is applicable since May 25th, 2018 in all European Union member states.

Other Congress activities were a SNOMET-CT workshop, the clinical coding contest and SEDOM’s General Assembly in which Alfonso Martínez Reina, president for the past four years welcomed the election of David del Monte to succeed him.

A walking tour through the historical centre of Toledo or the Congress dinner with magnificent view of the city  were much enjoyed social activities.

We look forward to the 2020 meeting.
